Anche Bush può riparare l'immagine dell'America nel mondo

Negli ultimi 4 anni l'antiamericanismo è cresciuto «drammaticamente» in tutto il mondo, osserva il teorico del soft power, del potere di "attrazione", Joseph Nye, ma Bush (già, persino lui) sembra attento al problema e può «invertire» questa tendenza. Dice di voler costruire istituzioni multilaterali, sta avendo un approccio multilaterale sulle questioni Iran e Corea del Nord. Ma i "se" non sono da poco, Bush ci riuscirà a certe condizioni, un nuovo «test per la sua leadership»:

«If Bush is able to hold elections and find a political solution in Iraq; if he can show that he is making serious efforts toward his rhetorical goal of creating a Palestinian state living at peace with Israel; and if he can make the style of his foreign policy appear more consultative and less arrogant in the eyes of others, he may be able to reverse the anti-American trends that developed during his first term».
